Chakra Balancing Yoga Series: 6th and 7th Chakra
“A chakra is a center of organization that receives, assimilates, and expresses life force energy. Chakra translates to “wheel” or “disc” and any vortex of activity can be called a chakra. The chakra system is a seven-leveled philosophical model of the universe. In the West, we learn of this system through the discipline of Yoga. With the mental and physical practices of Yoga, the chakras represent the steps through the ever-expanding states of consciousness that bind the individual with the divine.” –Anodea Judith
In this 4-week series we will dive into the basic information around the 6th Chakra (Ajna) and 7th Chakra (Sahasrara). We will learn what these chakras represent, yoga sequences to support balancing these chakras, as well as guided meditations to inspire introspection. A mixture of Vinyasa Yoga, Yin Yoga, guided meditation, and silent meditation will be used to explore the facets of the Chakras. We will understand the emotion and shadow emotion related to this chakra to support us on our healing journey. Finally, we will participate in an expressive chakra exercise through art, dance, mantra, or journaling to apply the resources learned in this workshop.
